Feely in, Mare out

Miami inked former Giants kicker Jay Feely to a 3 -year contract today and that will mean that Olindo Mare will be given the boot. (Horrible, horrible pun was intended)
Besides signing Feely, the team also resigned veteran defensive tackle Keith Traylor and safety Cameron Worrell.

It also appears that Chris Chambers' job is safe for next season. With Randy McMichael getting released, you had to wonder about Chambers' position with the team. McMichael had a better season and his cap hit was going to be less, but the team decided to stick with Chambers.

Add the (relatively) high cap number to the fact that Chambers was statistically the worst wide-receiver last season according to Football Outsider stats, you get two solid reasons for sacking him like Drew Bledsoe. But still, I'm happy that he will stay with the team for now.

Chambers sucked last year, but he still is one of the most talented receivers in the league and I want to see what he can do in Cameron's offense. You got to think that the offense will be better next year and I'm expecting Chris' numbers to also improve big time. If by then it doesn't, I'll be the first in line to dropkick him in his sternum.

It would also help Chambers if Miami could land Donte' Stallworth. Stallworth was in town for a visit today and I'm hoping that something gets done. A receiving unit of Stallworth, Chambers, Marty Booker, Derek Hagan and David Martin should be pretty decent for whoever is taking snaps under center.
