That got out of hand pretty quick

You might think that I'm picking on my Orlando Magic again and if that's the case...you're damn right. It's just not a pleasant experience when you see your team run itself into the ground in just a few short days.
In my last post, I "joked" about Orlando not having any cap room any more and having to trot out a starting five that consists of Dwight Howard, Rashard Lewis, MC Hammer, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Dane Cook. Well, it looks like that wasn't very far-fetched at all.
I'll let Espn's Chad Ford explain...
They mishandled the entire episode to the point where they are ineligible to use the midlevel exception this year. With a sign-and-trade to move Darko to another team and receive an asset in return, Orlando could have stayed slightly over the salary cap and used the exception. By waiving Milicic, the Magic fell a little below the cap and lost their free agent exceptions. Now they can sign only minimum-salary players. [...] Once Orlando extends the contracts of [Dwight] Howard and [Jameer] Nelson, the team essentially will be capped out for the next five years. This is their team.
Awesome. I'm going to take an angry piss on Otis Smith's desk now.
