You force me to complain once again Peter

Over at SI they have this feature where they let their writers come up with a couple of "Dream Teams". So you'll have someone like Tom Verducci picking his All-Time baseball team and Peter King selecting his All-Time football team and so on.

The problem with making such lists is that people will always be disagreeing but I guess that that is the point, to stir up some discussion and fill up some space.

But lists like this really get troublesome when people make selections that have you scratching your head and drooling from your eyes. And that's what Peter King's "All-Current" team is doing to me right now. This is his team of the current best players in football. Keep the word "current" in mind as we go through this.

I don't really have a problem with his starting offense, but his offensive reserves are interesting to say the least.

OFFENSIVE RESERVES
POSITION
PLAYER
QB
Tom Brady, Vince Young
RB
Reggie Bush, Maurice Jones-Drew
OL
Jason Peters, Kris Dielman, Nick Mangold
WR
Larry Fitzgerald, Marvin Harrison, Mike Furrey
TE
Tony Gonzalez

Yes, that is Vince Young at quarterback. Peter King has Vince Young as the number 3 Qb in the league RIGHT NOW. Not Carson Palmer, not Drew Brees, not Matt Hasselbeck, not Mark Bulger, not Donovan McNabb, not even Phillip Rivers, Big Ben or even Steve McNair.

Reggie Bush and MJD also had some nice rookie seasons and I'm sure that 3 years from now they'll be 2 of the best offensive weapons in the game but I'm just going to throw some names around of a few guys that are pretty sound right now. Steven Jackson, Larry Johnson, Shaun Alexander. No place for them on the all-current team??

And ok, I can kind of see the selections of Bush and MJD but Mike Furrey is the one that really has me scratching my head. I know he lead the NFC in receptions last year but again, where are the likes of Chad Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Hines Ward, Anquan Boldin, Roy Williams. Heck, I wouldn't even mind seeing T.O. right there.

On the defensive side of the ball there are also some odd choices. Peter has Warren Sapp as a starter at DT. This would have been cool back in the year 2000 but not now. Right now, Warren Sapp is not the second best defensive tackle in football. Where are John Henderson and Marcus Stroud? Where is Kevin Williams? I'd even accept Casey Hampton and Vince Wilwork over Sapp right now.

DEFENSIVE RESERVES
POSITION
PLAYER
DL
Richard Seymour, Dwight Freeney, Pat Williams
LB
DeMeco Ryans, Lance Briggs, Lofa Tatapu
DB
Asante Samuel, Bob Sanders

I could argue Ryans, Tatapu (sic) and Samuel on that bench, but they aren't bad choices. I do have a problem that Bob Sanders and Kerry Rhodes are in but that there isn't any room for Troy Polamalu or Sean Taylor.

If you want, you can also check out Peter's All-time dream team, and his Future Dream Team. God knows how weird those might look.
